A major payroll problem this April has been the duplication of employment records by HM Revenue and Customs.

Specifically – we have seen HMRC create identical employee records for individuals, with respect to the same employer. This has had the consequence of generating multiple tax codes, often beginning with BR or D0.

The confusion caused by this has been considerable; however, at Dataplan, we pride ourselves on a strong working relationship with HMRC, recognising their role as one of the most major stakeholders in the work of a payroll provider.

This leaves us well placed to liaise with them about any issues caused by their system changes, as we have in this case, as well as countless others. Leaving clients to solve HMRC problems themselves isn’t the Dataplan way. We relish getting to the nub of these issues, for the benefit of all of our clients.
