Dataplan have now been in the payroll business for over 40 years.

Starting out as a one man business from Tom Allen's front room in late 1968 Dataplan has had a few owners.

Its big break came in 1972 when Dataplan Computer Bureau started processing payroll for dockers at the ports in Grimsby.

Changing hands again in 1974 the business was bought by Orbit and managed by John Lamb.

In 1989 the business was aquired by Grimsby based accountants Forrester Boyd as an extra service to provide their clients. Initially, operating from Hainton Avenue the payroll operations moved to Victoria Street before finally moving to Forrester Boyd's office in South Saint Mary's Gate.

Richard Rowell, a partner at Forrester Boyd, took over the reigns at Dataplan in 1999 and with the appointment of Stewart Waddell as bureau manger in 2006 Dataplan started to grow rapidly.

Following the success of Dataplan Payroll our Education brand "Dataplan Education" was born in 2005 following the amalgamation of another bureau from London into the Dataplan business.

This created a new sector for Dataplan which serviced schools payrolls in and around the London area, this section of the Dataplan now manages over 400 schools across the UK paying over eighty five thousand employees per month.

Stewart became Operations Director in January 2013 and with Richard has continued to push the business forward including winning National awards in 2008 and 2013.

The mixture of flexibility in what we offer and a personal service is very attractive to our customers and we have seen 300% growth in the last 5 years alone and now employ a strong team of 50 staff.

From humble beginnings we now have approximately 1000+ customers spread across the UK from Cornwall to Aberdeen and growing.
