Outsourcing is no longer something done in exceptional circumstances. In fact, outsourcing has become so commonplace that it is not surprising that it is now an industry in its own right. In particular the benefits of using a payroll company have never been clearer. Many businesses take a piecemeal approach to dealing with their payroll. When an employee has a problem, the person designated to deal with payroll then has to deal with it as well as their normal job. It is perhaps to be expected that it is not usually their top priority. Thus, the employee with the query or problem feels undervalued.

For many businesses therefore, it is not a question of whether to use payroll outsourcing, but which company they should use. There are a number of points to consider before making your decision.

Can the payroll company come up with a solution that is tailor made or do they try to convince you that one size fits all?

Does the payroll bureau have experience of your size of business, and your industry? It may be that they do not deal with your industry but they should be able to show that they are used to dealing with the most complex industries.

Does the company have any additional or hidden fees?

Is the software they use approved by H M Revenue & Customs?

Dataplan is an award winning payroll company. We were named by the Institute of Personnel Management (IPP) as the 2008 Payroll Outsourcer of the year. We don't rest on our laurels though and are always looking for new and innovative ways to serve our customers.
