Human Resources or HR is often referred to with a wry grin, or the question, Do you mean personnel? Of course, personnel is how that department was referred to for as long as even the eldest workers can remember and the universal acceptance of HR as a more accurate title seems held up by a reluctance on the part of those who hate anything new fangled. However, HR seems a completely apt title for the department that deals with all matters relating to staff. After all, a company has many resources such as premises and machinery but the one that costs the most and is generally the most valuable is the human resource.

HR has become a specialism over the years, which means that it is possible to study and be examined in this area. This also means that the salaries attracted by HR managers have increased substantially. Many companies have an HR manager who has to cover all staff issues. These include recruitment and disciplinary matters as well as the day to day operation of payroll and related matters.

Many businesses find that the most effective way to use an HR specialist is to let them concentrate on dealing with the strategic and more difficult matters. It makes far more sense to use a payroll outsourcing company to deal with wages and all the different queries which can arise. Dataplan is used to working with companies of all sizes and makes sure that specific members of their staff specialise in dealing with your business ensuring familiarity with specific problems.
